At Thomas Jefferson University we offer a 1-2 week externship opportunity for third and fourth year dental students or graduate dentists interested in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. The goals of this externship are to allow the participant the opportunity to explore their interest in the specialty of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. The extern will be exposed to the full scope of the specialty and be given experiences in the clinic and operating room. They will be expected to participate in the resident didactics and gain an understanding of what training in this specialty entails. Participation in an on-call experience with the residents is encouraged. At the end of their experience a short presentation detailing a topic they were exposed to is required. Eligible candidates will be those attending or graduates of an accredited U.S. or Canadian dental school and be eligible for application for a residency position in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
